The Stone-Ceramics industry association proposed that methods of CO₂ storage in mineral construction materials and components should also be recognized as permanent removals:

For existing components

Accepting the re-carbonation of mineral components made of concrete, limestone, or lime plaster with CO₂ from the ambient air of the buildings, since in the EU ETS regime, the re-carbonation of mineral construction materials/components is already recognized as a sink.

For mineral building materials, rocks, and aggregates

These materials can be deliberately and permanently loaded with CO₂ in special facilities and then installed in buildings.
